The BB1200 was Yamaha’s flagship bass of the late ’70s — a neck-through, professional-grade instrument known for its incredible sustain, balance, and smooth tonal response. This fretless version offers an expressive, upright-like feel and warm, woody tone that’s perfect for players seeking nuance and vintage character.
Featuring a neck-through mahogany and maple body, a multi-laminate neck, and rosewood fingerboard, this bass delivers rich midrange depth with clear highs and punchy low-end definition. The original Yamaha humbucking pickup packs a tight, articulate tone ideal for recording or live performance.
This example shows honest vintage wear and is all original, complete with its original gig bag. Condition is 7/10 — with heavy aging, a bent G-string tuner (still functional), and evidence of a bridge conversion or missing cover (old holes visible). Various small dings and scuffs are present throughout, adding plenty of authentic mojo to this vintage workhorse.
