Description

Lovies Guitars is excited to offer up this 1981 Gibson Explorer Electric Guitar with a Black Ebony Finish! After as short and unsuccessful original production period at the end of the 1950s, followed by nearly 20 years absence, Gibson reissued the Explorer in 1976 in relatively small numbers until it was discontinued in 1980. In 1981‑1982, a very similar model, called the Explorer I continued the standard format established in the 1950s. In 1983, the Explorer 83 replaced the Explorer I for a brief period. Although the 83 continued the traditional control layout with scratchplate, Gibson starting making bodies from alder, rather than mahogany/korina and the necks started being made from maple with a rosewood fingerboard. This guitar is in excellent shape with light hardware tarnish, some indents and light marks, rated at 9/10. Has upgraded strap buttons, Seymour Duncan ’59 pickups, a Maestro vibrato installed and posts filled and a refinish done by Gibson Nashville. Free of any breaks, cracks or repairs. Included with this guitar is an original hard-shell case and a complimentary sample of Fret-Not, our preferred fretboard cleaner, check it out at fretnot.net! Thank you for considering this exceptional instrument from Lovies Guitars.
