As one of the earliest examples of Gibson’s innovative ES-336, this Custom Shop instrument represents a landmark in Gibson craftsmanship. Designed to bridge the gap between the larger ES-335 and the solid-body Les Paul, the ES-336 features a carved, chambered body that delivers the warmth and resonance of a semi-hollow with the comfort and feedback resistance of a smaller-bodied guitar. Highly regarded by players and collectors alike, early Custom Shop ES-336 models have become increasingly desirable over the years.
Tonally, the ES-336 offers exceptional balance with rich lows, articulate mids, and singing highs. Its chambered construction provides remarkable sustain and harmonic complexity while remaining lively and responsive. The Gibson humbuckers produce everything from warm jazz cleans and bluesy breakup to thick, expressive rock tones with outstanding clarity and note separation.
The gorgeous Ice Tea Burst finish beautifully highlights the figured maple top, giving the guitar a timeless appearance that perfectly complements its elegant Custom Shop appointments. This guitar is all original (OG) and comes complete with its Original Hardshell Case (OHSC).
Condition: 9.6/10 – Excellent. Light pickguard scratches from careful playing. There are a few small dings on the front of the body and some light scratches on the front of the headstock. Overall, this is a beautifully preserved early Gibson Custom Shop ES-336 with only minor cosmetic wear.
