The G6128T Player’s Edition doesn’t stray from the “recipe” for chambered electrics that the master luthiers at Gretsch have been using since the 1950s, when the really legendary body style, pickups, and appointments kicked into full swing and inspired players like Chet Atkins, Duane Eddy, and Chuck Berry. Mahogany has long been the major tonewood used by Gretsch for these iconic chambered electrics. Known for its thick sonic profile that includes crisp highs and midrange resonance, the G6128T Player’s Edition is made from select mahogany from body to the U-style neck — beautifully resonant tonewoods from end to end. In addition, a 12″-radius rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium-jumbo frets and eye-catching classic thumbnail inlays gives you a neck that is legendary for its playability and fast action response.
The original 1940s Gretsch-DeArmond Fidelatone single-coil pickups set the gold standard of their era. Eventually rebranded with the “DynaSonic” name, these were the first pickups with individually adjustable pole pieces, which makes it possible to fine-tune each pickup’s string-to-string balance. It wasn’t long before pickup makers around the world adopted this design. Sonically, DynaSonics have a lot in common with the P-90. As of 1957, DynaSonics were almost entirely replaced by Gretsch’s new Filter’Tron dual-coil pickups. Nonetheless, many guitarists continued to prefer the distinct high-end gloss and controlled bass response of the DynaSonic. The pickups featured on the G6128T Player’s Edition are a perfect representation of the DynaSonic in its prime. You couldn’t ask for a more authentic Gretsch single-coil sound! This guitar is in great shape with several micro marks, light buckle wear on the back and a couple indents on the neck, rated at 8.5/10. All original and free of any breaks, cracks or repairs.
