This is the Gretsch G6129T-1957 Silver Sparkle Jet w/ Bigsby Tailpiece. This “Sparkle Jet” is constructed in late 1950’s styling complete single coil DynaSonic pickups and “Hump-Block” fretboard inlay. The Jet models from the Gretsch’s Professional Collection are top quality guitars that have a look, feel and sound all their own since their introduction in 1953. The Jet can be considered a solid body guitar because it’s constructed of a solid mahogany back, but due to a heavily chambered body and a 3 ply maple top the guitar retains some of the hollow body tone Gretsch guitars are famous for. Additionally the heavily chambered design makes the guitar very lightweight and well balanced. The duo jet’s play extremely well with perfect action and neck angle combined with an adjustable bridge. This particular Jet has the classic sound of Gretsch Dynasonic pickups and a USA made Bigsby tremolo done with a silver sparkle “Drum wrap” style top ply. The DynaSonic pickups sound excellent with a big full bodied unrestrained bass response and very crisp and clear high frequencies. They are a perfect match for the guitar. They sound absolutely stunning when played clean and respond well to a fair amount of gain.
