To revive the very essence of the original ’59 Les Paul Standard guitar, Gibson Custom spared no expense, painstakingly recreating each part of the 1959 Reissue Les Paul piece by piece. The original non-weight-relieved mahogany body, hand-carved and book-matched maple top, and holly-head veneer headstock are only the beginning. The accuracy of the details go all the way down to the straight-line positioning of the 1959 Reissue Les Paul’s vintage-style tulip tuners, the size and shape of the acrylic trapezoid block inlays, and the ’50-style long neck tenon joint. If you hold the Gibson Custom 1959 Reissue Les Paul up to the original, you’d be more than hard pressed to tell them apart.
Historic Makeovers Standard Makeover package offers the essentials to improve your Gibson Historic Les Paul. They contour the top to vintage specs. The neck is carved to the correct vintage “C” shape and the fingerboard binding edge is rolled. They then completely refinish the guitar using their aniline dyes and unplasticized nitro-cellulose lacquer in one their vintage correct finishes. The package includes a Vintage Patina.
