Lovies Guitars is excited to offer up this 2022 Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition Roasted Pine Double Esquire Relic with an Aged White Blonde Finish! The Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition Roasted Pine Double Esquire Relic is dripping with early ‘50s Fender style! Like many of the earliest Tele-family models, this guitar starts with a pine body, which is then roasted to increase resonance and reduce weight. The rift-sawn maple neck’s 1950 Blackguard profile is sure to please vintage Tele fans, while the 21 Medium Vintage frets in a 7.25- to 9.5-inch compound radius combine easy open-position chording with the slick upper-range playability of a modern radius. A pair of hand-wound ‘50/’51 Blackguard Tele pickups bring the old-school twang, boasting a painstakingly period-correct construction that truly puts the power of a golden-era Fender in your hands. Finally, the Fender Custom Shop’s tasteful relic finish ensures that this guitar plays and feels like a broken-in old friend, right out of the box!

In order to capture the timeless tone of this Double Esquire’s hand-selected woods, the Custom Shop loaded in their ’50/’51 Blackguard pickups. Period-precise construction ensures vintage tone with dynamic string response, and each pickup was hand-wound by the Custom Shop to replicate the construction of Fender’s golden era. These pickups deliver signature Tele (or in this case, Double Esquire!) twang in spades, and flipping up the neck position unlocks a dark, jazzy flavor that’s perfect when you’re looking for a mellower tone.

The Limited Edition Roasted Pine Double Esquire Relic sports a rift-sawn maple neck with a substantial 1950 Blackguard profile — perfect for players who prefer their neck to have some heft. Beyond that, a maple fingerboard with a compound 7.25- to 9.5-inch radius and modern Medium Vintage frets ensure that you can shred and bend up high without fear of fretting out. It’s the best of old and new!

Though a relic’d guitar finish is almost as common these days as a flawless factory finish, it was the Fender Custom Shop that pioneered the process — and they know how to do it better than anyone. It starts with a period-correct nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Nitro finishes — standard back in the day — are significantly thinner than today’s polyurethane finishes, allowing the guitar to breathe and enhancing its tonal characteristics. Relic’d guitars are then put through the aging process to give you an axe that looks and feels like it’s seen decades of frontline action. The process creates instruments that are spitting images of the originals. Without sneaking a look at the neck heel stamps, you’d be hard-pressed to distinguish the Limited Edition Roasted Pine Double Esquire Relic from the real deal. This guitar is in minty shape, rated at 9.5/10. All original and free of any breaks, cracks or repairs. Included with this guitar is an original hard-shell case and a complimentary sample of Fret-Not, our preferred fretboard cleaner, check it out at fretnot.net! Thank you for considering this exceptional instrument from Lovies Guitars.
