No major dings or scratches outside of the relic. Frets near perfect! Just some very light finish marks. 9.5 of 10. Overall, excellent condition. Was barely played. It is in all original condition! The sound is absolutely incredible! It has really opened up with time and has a great vintage vibrant tone If you have not played one of these yet, you will be in for a surprise. Such a cool guitar. Historically accurate tonewoods perfectly re-create the sound and look of this Strat In addition to its nitrocellulose-lacquer-finished alder body, this 1963 Custom Relic Strat captures many other idiosyncrasies of the 1963 Stratocaster’s tonewoods in perfect detail. Most remarkably, its rounded dark rosewood laminate fretboard is shaped to the radius of the 1963 Custom Relic Strat’s C-shaped maple neck. In fact, Fender had just moved away from the “slab” style of fingerboards in 1962, because they had a tendency to split from the neck due to humidity changes. The rounded laminate method minimized the differences in the way the two woods contracted, but it was far more costly, as the single piece of rosewood had to be hand contoured to perfectly fit the neck. By painstakingly re-creating this process, the Fender Custom Shop ensured that the 1963 Custom Relic Strat would give you the same feel and sound as an original 1963 Stratocaster.
