Lovies Guitars has, up for grabs, a 2015 Eastman T58-V Antique Varnish Series Archtop with a Bigsby Tremolo in a Relic’d Hand-Rubbed Amber Varnish Finish. This guitar is part of Eastman’s Antique Varnish Series, a finishing technique that draws on techniques and materials from the violin world. According to Eastman, standard lacquers tend lay on top of the wood while the thin varnish sinks into it, which allows the top and back to breathe and vibrate more freely. The varnish also has a softer, warmer glow than lacquer and the underlying grain is more prominent to the touch. This beautiful vintage inspired archtop is a shining example of the quality that Eastman delivers. Equipped with a 3 Piece Maple Neck, an Ebony Fingerboard and Bridge, TV Jones Classic Brushed Nickel Pickups, Laminated Flamed Maple Back & Sides, and Gotoh Relic Series Tuners, the T58-V offers fantastic feel and sound. Tones can range from dark jazz to shimmery pop sounds. The Eastman TG58-v comes stock with a Bigsby vibrato as well, which is a match made in heaven that just screams rockabilly. But the solid spruce top helps mellows out that twang a bit, and with the neck pickup activated, this guitar has an appealingly smooth jazz tone. The T58-v has made the staff here at Lovies Guitars giddy with delight! The warm natural look of the reliced varnish finish, smooth played in feel, and excellent acoustic voice of this fine instrument make it irresistibly tempting to hold and play. Plugged in, the titillating tone from the TV Jones pickups teases us even more. Then there’s the Bigsby tremolo and relic’d Gotoh hardware which further complement this already alluring package.
