Discontinued in 2006, the Taylor 555 sports one of Taylor’s classic tone-wood combos: the sitka spruce top with mahogany back and sides. Though it was originally produced in 1978, making it one of Taylor’s earliest models. Ebony for the fingerboard and bridge. This guitar was built using a standard dovetail neck joint – the bolt-together patented Taylor joint debuted in 1999. The body is large – 17 inches across and the jumbo design seems suited to the enormous range of sounds these can produce.
