The Fender Custom Shop reached new heights of craftsmanship with its acclaimed Time Machine series—artfully “relic-ed” guitars and basses that revolutionized the entire concept of “reissue” instruments. The Custom Shop has since ventured even higher by crafting meticulous replicas using the same techniques and tooling used to create the originals all those years ago.
This Fender Custom Shop ’62 Stratocaster is a tone-filled solid body electric guitar with a Super Heavy Relic finish. This 2014 NAMM Show limited-edition ’62 Strat is built around an acoustically balanced, 2-piece select alder body. Its roasted quarter-sawn maple neck and 21-fret, rosewood fingerboard facilitate playability so effortless that it’s downright inspiring. Powering this guitar’s tone is a flexible array of single-coil Strat pickups. A Custom Shop vintage-style synchronized tremolo and vintage-style tuning machines round out this ’62 Stratocaster’s hardware. You also get a 3-ply pickguard and a nitrocellulose finish that reflects six decades of hard-earned wear and tear. For Strat aficionados, this limited-edition ’62 Stratocaster offers a non-stop thrill ride.
