Its distinctively figured top and back are carved from figured maple; the sides are mahogany — a tonewood cocktail that delivers extraordinary clarity and warm resonance. The Hollowbody II also features a very comfortable Pattern Vintage mahogany neck and a rosewood fingerboard adorned with beautiful Bird inlays. Oversize f-holes and two toneful TCI-tuned 58/15 LT humbucking pickups round out the feature set. Handcrafted by PRS’s elite luthiers, the McCarty 594 Hollowbody II uses only premium tonewoods: gorgeously figured maple for the top and back, mahogany for the sides. This particular combination yields a clear, yet resonant tone that suits any musical style. The mahogany neck is topped with a smooth rosewood fingerboard adorned with exclusive PRS artist bird inlays.
Some of the least visible but most powerful features of the 594 Hollowbody II include a neck feel that maximizes performance and comfort with an asymmetrical Pattern Vintage profile. Though much like their Pattern profile, PRS’s Pattern Vintage carve is slightly thicker to fill your hand in just the right way. And the strings will always feel silky smooth when playing and bending due to the guitar’s 24.594″ signature McCarty scale length — the origin of the “594” in the model name.
When you plug this guitar into your favorite amp, you will be enveloped in a rich, organic vintage tone. This is the warm and clear sonic elixir that propelled the original 58/15 pickups to the top of many guitarists’ favorite PAF-style humbucker lists. 58/15 LT pickups are based on that successful design, but they’re wound with fewer wire turns for even more clarity and nuance. This guitar’s electronics setup features the traditional 4-pot configuration, which gives you independent control of each pickup’s volume and tone. Pulling up on each tone knob engages single-coil operation for that pickup, which means this axe can serve up any electric guitar tone you could ever need.
