The Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition ’65 Stratocaster Journeyman Relic captures the magic of a hard-played vintage Strat from the 1960s. Every detail has been recreated with obsessive attention, from the relic’d nitrocellulose lacquer finish and aged look down to the hand-wound pickups and vintage-spec hardware. This is a Stratocaster built to thrill with vintage tone and vibe.
The first thing that draws your gaze is the relic’d sparkle nitrocellulose lacquer finish. You can practically see and feel the years of play worn into the aged sparkle. The patina looks and feels stunningly realistic, with skillfully applied wear patterns that transport you back to Woodstock era. Every nick, scratch and dent has been meticulously recreated by the master-builder’s at Fender’s Corona factory.
Every component has been spec’d to precisely recreate a 1965 Strat. The quarter-sawn maple neck features a premium AA flame top and a period-correct ’65 C shape that’s super comfortable and resonant. The 9.5″ radius rosewood fingerboard hosts 21 narrow-tall frets that make string bends effortless. A vintage-style synchronized tremolo lets you go wild with divebombs and flutters while staying in tune. Even the hardware replicates the nickel/chrome plating of the ‘60s.
Plugged in, this Strat rewards you with glorious vintage Fender tone courtesy of a trio of Custom Shop hand-wound ’65 single-coils. The neck and middle pickups have that quintessential bright and articulate chime, while the bridge pickup delivers the perfect amount of growl and twang. From spanky cleans to overdriven crunch, these pickups let you conjure the iconic sounds of your heroes. An RWRP middle pickup gives you even more tonal versatility to explore.
This Strat doesn’t cut any corners, with premium tonewoods and appointments that honor the Fender legacy. The body is constructed from select 2-piece alder, prized for its balanced tone and sustain. The bone nut adds articulation and resonance to every note. Mother-of-pearl inlays and an eggshell pickguard contribute vintage-correct aesthetic touches. To protect your investment, Fender includes a deluxe hardshell case with strap and certificate of authenticity. This guitar is in unplayed shape, rated at 10/10.
