Lovies Guitars is excitedly offering this Amazing Vintage 1965 Gibson RB-250 MasterTone 5-String Banjo with a KOA and Mother of Pearl back. Function meets fashion in this awesome vintage banjo. This model is an early RB-250 with the highly sought-after bowtie inlay. Except for some rather odd models from Vega and Ode, Gibson was about your only choice in new bluegrass banjos in the early to mid-60’s and this RB–250 (production beginning in 1965) was high on just about every pickers list. This banjo boasts D-tuners for the G and B strings for quick tuning changes, an ebony fingerboard. Spikes on the 7th-11th frets and a “Mastertone” inlay on the 22nd fret. The only thing that’s been changed on this ’65 Mastertone is the Vintage KOA and Mother of Pearl back. This banjo even includes its original hardshell case, making this a real time machine!! The Gibson Mastertone banjos are considered by many to be the absolute benchmark for Dixieland and Bluegrass players. As far as banjos go, this is the best of the best! There are a couple cracks on the back, some small finish marks on neck and the headstock has some scuffs. The metals and head are in great condition as are the frets with plenty of life left! Hardshell case and strap included. No Breaks or Repairs! Original Hard Shell Case included!!
