Description

Lovies Guitars is excited to present this 1983 Gibson Flying V Electric Guitar with a Heritage Korina Finish! Americans were fin fanatics in 1958. Tail-fins were commonplace on the coolest cars of the day, and modernist artwork was riddled with atomic boomerangs. So it would only make sense for Gibson to try its hand at a line of modernist style instruments, right? But for the most part… it flopped. And the Flying V was one of the casualties. Less than 100 were made in the initial run, and the Flying V was doomed to the annals of guitar history. But thanks to popularity among artists like Albert King and Lonnie Mack, this fringe guitar soon returned to the conversation, and eventually became one of the instruments most synonymous with the Gibson brand.

Since 1958, there have been several reissues of the Flying V, and guitars from this 80s run are among some of the most popular and truest to original specs. This guitar is made of the lightweight Korina and features original Tim Shaw Pickups and ’79 Pots. It’s lightweight, super playable, and although we aren’t in flying cars with the Jetsons just yet, adding this guitar to your collection is probably the first step. This guitar is in excellent shape for its age with a broken case handle, light hardware tarnish, finish checking and some indents and marks, rated at 9/10. All original with upgraded strap buttons and free of any breaks or repairs. Included with this guitar is an original hard-shell case and a complimentary sample of Fret-Not, our preferred fretboard cleaner, check it out at fretnot.net! Thank you for considering this exceptional instrument from Lovies Guitars.
