Lovies Guitars is Excited to offer up this Vintage 60’s Gibson TB-250 Mastertone Tenor Banjo! Gibson banjos were the center of the banjo universe for decades, but with the rise of serious amplification and rock music, the banjo as an instrument fell out of popular favor. It was still found in various music genres, particularly Irish, traditional jazz and bluegrass, but not much beyond them. Tenor banjos were very popular during the heyday of Dixieland Jazz music, providing percussive rhythm at a volume level that could easily compete with a horn section. After Dixieland fell out of favor, many tenor banjos were converted to 5-string by simply swapping necks. Currently, tenor banjos are often found in Celtic or Irish music contexts. This instrument is in Excellent shape, especially for its age, however, there is some checking on the back, a few light marks on the chrome parts, a couple light marks on the neck and headstock has a couple tiny dimples, easy 9.5/10! ALL Original, except the bridge and saddle appear to be replaced. NO Breaks, Cracks or Repairs. Includes a Period Correct Hard-Shell Case!
